For Masaya, the last happy memory with his parents together, is his hopelessly drunk Dad forcing him to eat yakitori chicken bars… and being hit by Mom… Masaya was 3 years old at that time. Mom andMasaya left Dad and started living in a town famous for coal mining.Mom worked in her sister’s small diner and raised Masaya by herself.The life was peaceful there, free from Dad.

After graduating from high school,Masaya successfully entered an Art University in Tokyo, the place he has always longed to be. However, life never really goes on as a person wishes. His life was rotten. Life was all about fooling around with his friends and killing time.He could not dare call Mom to tell her his situation.

It is now 1990, and Masaya is working just to return the debt, which were mounted while just living in Tokyo and doing nothing. He did whatever he was asked to do, and without really expecting, somehow earned his living as an illustrator/columnist. One day he gets a call from his aunt informing that his mom has cancer.Masaya makes up his mind and calls Mom, to invite her to live with him.

Mom arrives in Tokyo. After living apart for 15 years,Masaya and Mom start living together in Tokyo. Masaya's life seems to have finally started moving once again. Soon, people around him started to frequently gather at his house to eat her delicious food. The house is always filled with happy faces and laughter. However, nothing lasts forever.As they have feared,Mom’s cancer has relapsed.

Gravity Clown (重力ピエロ, Juryoku Pierrot) is a 2008 Japanese film based on a 2003 Kotaro Isaka novel and directed by Junichi Mori.

Plot

Brothers Izumi and Haru get linked to a rash of arson fires in which suspicious writing is left on the walls. Haru was conceived when his mother was brutally attacked and raped by a criminal, and yet he is still treated as part of the family. Various ideas are explored, such as his father's ability to love him even though they're not biologically related and whether or not genetics actually matter within a family.

Plot

A young medical intern student named Keisuke Soma (Eita) is assigned to work in a remote countryside village. Keisuke at first takes the attitude that this assignment is below his creditentials. His thoughts soon change.

Keisuke Soma then meets the small town's resident doctor named Dr. Ino (Tsurube Shofukutei), who is universally beloved by the town. The town doctor works diligently around the clock, while knowing virtually everything about the residents' illnesses and their family history. Keisuke follows Dr. Soma around and starts to learn things he never learned in medical school.

A secret then emerges about Dr. Ino and the town must come to grips with this new knowledge of the man they so admired.

The Housemaid (2010)



SYNOPSIS:

Eun-yi, a middle-aged divorcee, is hired as an upper class family housemaid. But soon enough, master of the house Hoon takes advantage of his social position by slipping into her sheets. Hoon’s visits become frequent and Byung-sik, an old housemaid, reports the affair to Hae-ra’s mother Mi-hee, who plots to give Hae-ra the control over her husband. Soon Eun-yi miraculously becomes pregnant and wants to keep the baby. This is discovered by the family and she’s forced to have an abortion by Mi-hee despite Eun-yi’s plea to let her keep the baby and leave the house. Mi-hee’s plot backfires when Hoon scrutinizes her for terminating his child, even if that child is conceived illegitimately. Her forced abortion turns Eun-yi’s mental condition for the worst and she decides to take the matter into her own hands.

PLOT:

8 contestants compete for 10 billion wons ($1 Million USD) in a survival reality TV show. The challengers must spend 7 days in the Australian desert. On the second day, one contestant is found dead. The other contestants then find themselves in horrifying situations as they deal with each others' lies and deceits.


NOTES:

  1. Literal Korean title is "10 eok" which translates to "10,000,000,000". The number represents 10,000,000,000 Korean Won which converts roughly to 1,000,000 USD.
  2. The movie was filmed in Australia.
  3. Shooting started in mid-February and the movie initially planned a mid July release. But due to other films scheduled for release in the same period was pushed back to August 6th, 2009.

Great story told in a touching way. As the saying goes "It takes a village to raise a child' or something like that. I cried most of the way through but I cry at lots of things! So simply and moving I had to comment. I hope to learn about the director and people involved in the making of this. I loved the Grandfather he is so touching and honest. Not sure what they are smoking in those pipes but it seems to work! A tale of life and learning. Well acted by a young girl in the main part. A movie that makes you feel very strongly about each person. My first time to make a comment. As you can see I"m not very good but hope everyone sees this movie and enjoys. Cheers
